Just as beautiful as

Üks esimesi asju, mida ma juba enne Poola kolimist mõtlesin teha, oli kindlasti esimesel võimalusel minna mägedesse. Kuna Eestit võib lugeda peaaegu et täiesti lamedaks maaks ning meie 318 meetri kõrguste küngaste mägede alla kategoriseerimine kõlab juba eos totralt, tundus mõte päris mägede lähedusest justkui omamoodi õnnistus olevat. Kusjuures minu esimene reis mägedesse mõned aastad tagasi oli just Poolas ja kui päris aus olla, siis on see siiani mu jaoks üks kõige ilusamaid vaatepilte, mida ma ma oma elus näinud olen. Ilmselt olime tollal ääretult hea õnnega koos, kuna nii ilm kui ümbritsev õhkkond lõid põimudes minu jaoks midagi täiesti maagilist. Säravalt sinine taevas, selge vaade üle mägede ja rohelusest pungil puude, õhus rippus mõnus kuuma suvepäeva hõng ning kõrvu kostusid rahva elevus ja hõisked Tour de Pologne Zakopane etapil osalenud jalgrattulitele. See oli imeilus päev ning see jääb mulle ilmselt igaveseks meelde. 

One thing I was extremely happy about when moving to Poland was the opportunity to go and spend as soon as possible more time in the mountains. As Estonia can be basically considered as an extremely flat country and declaring our 318m high hills as mountains is not something we should be extremely proud of, having actual mountains rather nearby feels like a true blessing to me. My first trip ever to the mountains a few years back was actually in Poland and to be honest, it is still one of the most beautiful sights I have ever see in my life. I must say that back then we were probably extremely lucky with the weather and the atmosphere, so that everything kind of just fell into place and some sort of magic was created. The vibrant blue sky, the clear view over the mountains and vivid green trees, the pleasantly hot summer air hanging in the air, plus the great vibe of the Tour de Pologne having one of its stages in the Zakopane area. It was a beautiful day and I will probably remember the extremely beautiful view in my head forever. 

This time around we were not so lucky with the weather, as it was still a bit chilly and cloudy that day. But nevertheless, we had decided to go and have a some sort of a daytrip to Zakopane to visit the infamous Morskie Oko. The latter is one of the deepest lakes in the Tatra mountains, surrounded by beautiful mountains and therefore also being one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. But I cannot blame the people for wanting to see that. Even though we did get the typical April mountain weather - rather cold and there was even snow to be seen - but it was worth the small hike. It is a beautiful place and I can see how wonderful it must look like during the more warmer and colourful times. And according to the traditions, we also had a delicious szarlotka (apple) cake up in the cabin, which was one of the tastiest ones I have had so far.

We stayed the night in the Good Bye Lenin hostel, which is located about four kilometres from the Zakopane city centre, but it was on its way to Morskie Oko, so it was extremely convenient to take the bus from a station located a few hundred metres from it. You could always walk up to the starting point of the almost eight km trail, but as the road itself was nothing special there, we saw no point to do so. But the greatest coincidence regarding the hostel was the receptionist, whom we were casually having a conversation with during breakfast. After some point the talk lead to the question of where we are from and once I had declared I come from Estonia, she got this surprised look on her face and suddenly said that she is from there as well! I mean, what are the odds that, out of all places, you meet a fellow countryman in a small hostel in Zakopane. So random, but what a surprise!

Ma olen suur šokolaadikookide sõber, kuid tihtipeale on raske leida seda kuldset keskteed õige magususe, tekstuuri ning maitserikkuse vahel. Enamasti on vähemalt üks nendest mingil määral paigast ära. Muidugi ei kirtsuta ma koogisöömise ajal seetõttu nina ning jäta võimalust pisut maiustada vahele, aga mõtted tüürivad taolise täiuse saavutamise võimalustele siiski. Muidugi on alati kõik ka isiklikes maitseelistustes kinni ning viimaseid on ju nõnda palju nagu on inimesi, et võimalus kõigile meeltmööda olla on peaaegu et võimatu. 

I am a big fan of chocolate cakes, but often it is hard to find this golden path between the right amount of sweetness, the perfect texture and richness of flavour. Most of the times at least one of them has shifted slightly in the wrong direction. Of course I am not turning up my nose at this and won't skip the opportunity to satisfy my sweet tooth, but nevertheless the thought of how to improve it does cross my mind. Of course it all comes down to your own taste preferences and as we know, there are as many as there are people, so satisfying everybody is nearly impossible.

Komistasin aprillikuus sünnipäevamaratonideks ühe hea šokolaadikoogi retsepti otsides selle kookose ning šokolaadiga toorjuustukoogi otsa. Esialgu olin kookospiima kasutamise suhtes pisut skeptiline, kuid kui viimaks koogitükk taldrikule ja aeg maitsta kätte jõudis, ei olnud mõminal enam lõppu. Asendasin piimašokolaadi tumedaga, mis andis koogile juurde eriti mõnusa rikkaliku maitse ning ei muutnud viimast liialt magusaks, pigem just parasjagu. Toorjuust muudab koogi kergelt kreemjaks ja tummiseks, kookospiim annab meeldiva lõhna ning õrna kookose maitse. Täpselt midagi, mis mulle istub. Olen nüüd viimast kooki paaril korral teinud ja ilmselt ei juhtub seda ka tulevikus. Super!

When April and the birthday marathons, that simply call out for cakes, approached, I stumbled upon an awesome coconut and chocolate cheesecake recipe. At first I was slightly sceptical about the coconut milk, but when finally  the cake itself made its way onto my plate and it was time to taste it, there was no end to the humming in my mouth. I replaced the milk chocolate with the dark one, which added a lovely nuance of richness to the taste and it did not make the cake too sweet, which I like. The cream cheese makes the cake slightly creamy and coconut milk adds wonderful smell and flavour in the background. It is something that just fits my taste palate. I have done this cake now a few times already and it probably will happen also in the future. Superb!

Põhi:

200 g digestive küpsiseid

80 g võid (originaalretsept soovitab kasutada 100g, aga minu jaoks jääb põhi sedasi liialt rasvane)

Täidis:

400 g kookospiim (soovitan kasutada täisrasvast, mitte light versiooni)

400 g maitsestamata toorjuustu (mina kasutasin Farmi Köögi toorjuustu) 

100 g hapukoort

100 ml vahukoort

200 g tumedat šokolaadi (kes soovib magusamat, kasutagu piimašokolaadi või lisagu suhkurt täidisesse)

3 muna

1 spl maisitärklist

Kate:

100-150 g tumedat šokolaadi

50 ml vahukoort

Kookoshelbeid

WHAT YOU NEED:

Base: 

200 g of Digestive cookies

80 g of butter (the original recipe suggests 100g but for me that leaves the base way too greasy)

Filling:

400 g can of coconut milk (I recomment the full, not light version)

400 g cream cheese (Philadelphia type)

100 g creme fraiche (we call it sour creme in Estonia)

100 g double cream

200 g of dark chocolate (if you want your cake to be more sweet, use milk chocolate or add some sugar)

3 eggs

1 tbsp corn starch

Topping:

100-150 g dark chocolate

50ml double cream

Coconut flakes

Põhja jaoks purusta küpsised ja sega need sulavõiga. Suru saadud küpsisesegu küpsetuspaberiga vooderdatud lahtikäiva koogivormi (26 cm) põhja ja aseta umbes 10-15 minutiks külmkappi seisma. Täidise jaoks sega omavahel kookospiim, toorjuust, hapukoor ja vahukoor. Sulata vesivannil või mikrolaineahjus šokolaad, lase sellel natuke seista ja jahtuda. Sega viimane teiste ainete hulka kahes osas, vahepeal massi segades, et šokolaad tükki ei läheks. Lisa ükshaaval vahustades hulka ka munad, lõpuks ka tärklis. Vajadusel lisa hulka ka pisut suhkurt, kui soovid magusamat kooki. Täidis võib esialgu tunduda küll ülemäära vedel, kuid ahjus küpsedes taheneb viimane kenasti ära. Vala täidis põhjale ja küpseta 160 kraadi juures 45-60 minutit. Lase koogil täielikult jahtuda.

Katte jaoks kuumuta vahukoor keemiseni, lisa hulka peeneks hakitud šokolaad ning sega, kuni saad kena ja ühtlase massi. Määri kreem koogile ning puista peale kookoshelbeid. Kõige parem on kook, nagu toorjuustukookidele kohane, ikka pärast külmas seismist. 

Crush the cookies finely for the base and mix them together with the melted butter. Press the mix into the base of a springform (26cm) and put it into the fridge for about 10-15min. For the filling, mix the coconut milk, cream cheese, creme fraiche and double cream. Melt the chocolate over a water bath or in a microwave and let it cool down a bit. Mix it into the filling in two batches, mixing it inbetween, to make sure the chocolate doesn't become hard again, but mixes well. Beat in one by one the eggs, in the end also the corn starch. If you prefer, add in also some extra sugar. The filling might feel a bit too liquid, but it will set well while baking. Bake it at 160 degrees C for about 45-60 minutes. Let the cake cool down completely.

For the topping heat up the double cream to boil, add in chopped up pieces of chocolate and mix until you get an even and smooth mix. Pour it onto the cake and spread evenly. Sprinkle on some coconut flakes. The cake is the best, as it always it with cheesecakes, after standing in the fridge for a while.

Ma ei pea end just kõige ebausklikumaks inimeseks maailmas, kuid vahepeal tekib mul selline kahtlane tunne, et mu suust välja paisatud sõnadel on mingisugune sõnulseletamatu jõud. Seda eriti olukordades, mil miskit eriti head kipub mu elus juhtuma ning hinge poeb hirm, et selle aktsepteerimine ja päriselt välja ütlemine toob mingil moel kaasa kõige ilusa kaotsimineku. Ja ausalt öeldes olen end sedasi tundnud alates sellest hetkest, mil end Varssavis enam-vähem sisse olin seadnud. 

I don't think of myself as an extremely superstitious person, but sometimes I get this suspicious feeling that the words that come out of my mouth have some sort of an unexplainable power in them. That feeling comes across especially in situations when something wonderful happens in my life and I get this fear inside, that once I actually accept it and say it out loud, all the great things will disappear. And truth to be told I have had this feeling since the moment I had somewhat settled in in Warsaw.

Olen end viimastel nädalatel leidnud nii tihti mõttelt, et tõttöelda ei ole ma end päris pikka aega nii kodus tundnud, kui tunnen end siin olevat.  Ma poleks eales uskunud, et neid sõnu välja ütlen, eriti veel Varssavilaadse suurlinna kohta, millega veel mõned kuud tagasi mitte mingisugust emotsionaalset seost ei suutnud leida, kuid siin olles tundub kõik nii õige olevat. Ilmselt mängib kõiges suurt osa ka päikseliste ning suvehõngu täis pikitud aegade saabumine, mil kõik justkui ellu tärkab. Kõik tundub kergem ja inimesed, nii lähikonnas kui tänavapildis, on palju õnnelikumad. See on midagi, mida ilmselt iga vähegi põhja poolt pärit inimene pärast pikka ning rasket hallides toonides veedetud talve hinnata oskab.

I have found myself recently many times pondering on the thought of how I haven't felt this home for a long time like I do here. I would have never thought I say this actually out loud, especially when it comes to a big city like Warsaw, that just a few months ago I could not establish any emotional contact with, but everything feels so right in here. Probably the lovely sunny weathers and feel of summer are to blame of everything coming to life as well. Everything seems easier and people, around me and also on the streets, look a lot more happier. That is something that probably every person coming from the northen parts of the world can appreciate. Especially after a long and difficult grayscale winter.

Millegipärast kõlab see nii lihtsameeleselt, ehk isegi liigagi naiivselt, kui ütlen, et ma olen nii ääretult tänulik, kuid nii see on. Olen tänulik, et olen siiani olnud piisavalt kannatlik, pannes end uskuma õige hetke saabumisse ning hoides ära kerge sotsiaalsetest ootustest ning pingest tuleneva paanika tekkimise mu peas. Olen tänulik, et mu elus on just need inimesed, kes mind mu valikutes ja eesmärkides ilma mingi kahtluseta toetavad ning minu jaoks olemas on. Ja ma loodan, et ma suudan seda ka pikema aja möödudes meeles pidada ja endale teadvustada. Olen õnnelik, et mind ümbritseb just see linn ning selle melu, inimesed, kes end mu ümber soojalt sisse on seadnud ning põnev töökoht, kuhu pea iga päev kirjeldamatult hea meelega suundun. 

Tüüpilise eestlasena hakkan nüüd muidugi ootama seda hetke, mil mingi suur jama end mu teele veeretab, kuna liiga õnnelik ei saa ju ka olla, kuid seni tuleb lihtsalt nautida ja vooluga kaasa minna. 

It somehow sounds so simpleminded, maybe even a bit too naive, when I admit that I am really grateful, but that is how it is. I am grateful for the patience I have had so far, that has made me believe in the arrival of the right moment and has prevented me from panicking because of the surrounding social expectations and pressure. I am grateful for having all these people in my life, who support me in my choices and goals without any doubt. And I do hope I will be able to keep that in mind after more time passes by. I am happy that I am surrounded by this particular city, the people that have somehow nestled around me, and to have a job that I am happy to go to almost every single day. 

As a typical Estonian I will probably now start to wait for the moment to come when everything blows up, because you can never be too happy, can you? But I guess until that comes, I will have time to just enjoy and go with the flow.

Ma ausõna ei suuda enam hoomata seda, kui kiiresti aeg läheb. Kuidagi naljakas on aprilli lemmikuid kirja panna, kui kuskil peas kummitab mõte, et oot, alles ma ju tegin sedasama märtsikuu omadega. Kuid mis seal ikka. Aega peatada või aeglasemini tiksuma panna ma ei oska. Kuid eks see on märk sellest, et lõbus on, kuna siis kipub kõik ikka kiiremini mööduma. 

I truly don't know how to grasp the speed of time flying by. It is somehow really funny to start writing down my favourites of April when I feel I just recently did the same for the March ones. But oh well. I don't know how to make time stop or tick away slower, but maybe it is just a sign of having a great time. Because that is when the time goes the fastest. 

Tõttöelda olen ma ääretult rõõmus selle üle, kui palju toredat muusikat mu ellu taas on tulnud. Suures osas on selles süüdi tõsiasi, et oma kaheksatunnise tööpäeva jooksul jookseb minu kõrvaklappidesse päris mitu head tundi muusikat. Ja nõnda on rohkem aega ka uute ning vanade lemmikute (taas)avastamiseks. Aprillikuu üks suurtest lemmikutest on kindlasti The Lumineers ja nende uus teine kauamängiv "Cleopatra". Tegemist on üle pika aja ühega nendest albumitest, kus pea kõik lood kuidagi meeltmööda on. Selline mõnus indie hõnguga ajaviitemuusika, kuhu sisse end pisut kuulates ära kaotada. 

Truth to be told, I am extremely happy about the amount of music I have got in my life again. A significant part in that plays the great opportunity to discover new and rediscover old favourites during my eight-hour workdays. But one of my greatest findings in April has been The Lumineers' second LP Cleopatra. It happens to be one of those albums where almost all songs are somehow to my liking. Great pasttime music filled with lovely indie vibes to get partly lost into when listening. 

FILM/MOVIE

Siinkohal pean taas tõdema, et peaksin oma filmivaatamistega pisut arenema. Kuna ma ei ole siin praktiliselt üldse telekat vaadanud (poola televisioon ei paku just suurt huvi) ning arvutisse ka filme pole alla laadinud, on see osa jäänud ka aprillis võrdlemisi nigelaks. Kuid üksõhtu vaatasime koos korterikaaslasega "Deadpool'i". Millegipärast ootasin ekraanil näha tüüpilist superkangelase filmi, kuid viimane üllatas hoopis vastupidisega. Omamoodi pilkav ning omanäoline kontseptsioon tüüpilistest klišeedest segatuna kokku hea kuiva huumori ning kergelt häiriva vägivallaga, mängituna superkangelase poolt, kes oli pigem superkangelase kostüümi riietunud superkelm. Lugesin kuskilt lauset, mis kirjeldab filmi ideaalselt: enjoyably obnoxious.

I must still admit that I have not made much progress in order to become a true movie maniac. I don't really watch any TV here (Polish television is not really appealing I must say) and I haven't been interested enough to download any movies to my computer. But the other night we happened to watch Deadpool with my flatmate and it was everything I did not expect it to be. I was thinking it will be yet another typical superhero movie where the storyline is easily predictable. But this one had a satirical and unique concept mixed together with good dry humour and occasional slightly disturbing violence. And all that played by a superhero who was more like a super-villain suited up in a superhero costume. I read somewhere a sentence that describes the movie ideally: enjoyably obnoxious.

Varssavisse saabumisest saadik olen olnud äärmiselt elevil nende paikade avastamise üle, mida varasematel kordadel kuidagi näha pole suutnud. Selles mõttes on äärmiselt vahva suurlinnas elada ning omasoodu turisti mängida, kuna kohti, mida näha ja tundma õppida, on niivõrd mitmeid. Eelmisel nädalavahetusel, mil kätte jõudis siinne esimene tõeline suvesooja meenutav kevadilm, otsustasin minna ja külastada Vistula jõe paremale poolele jäävat Praga linnaosa. 

Praga oli kuni 18. sajandini omaette eksisteeriv linn, mil see siis Varssaviga ametlikult ühendati, kandes endas nii töölisklassi elurajooni kui ka ühe vaeseima linnaosa tiitlit. Seda peetakse küll Varssavi üheks ohtlikumaks linnaosaks ning seda eelkõige ööpimeduses, kuid tõttöelda oli see päeval üks lahedamaid, mida Varssavis näinud olen. Kuna Praga ei saanud sõjategevuses suuri kahjustusi, on kõik see, mida tänavatel näha saab - erinevalt suurest osast ülejäänud Varssavist-, tõeliselt ehe. Miskipärast kipuvad taolised linnaosad, mis on pisut räsitud ning ajale jalgu jäänud, mingil hetkel totaalselt ellu ärkama ning muutuvad erinäoliste ja veidrate pubide, kohvikute, galeriide ja klubide tärkamistega inimeste uueks sotsiaalseks keskpunktiks. Mulle kipuvad taolised hipsterite paradiisid millegipärast kohutavalt meeldima. Praga kiirgab oma postindustrialismi, vanade telliskivimajade ning silmnähtava ajalooga teistmoodi mõnusat energiat, mis kummalisel moel lihtsalt endasse tõmbab.  

Ever since arriving to Warsaw I have been extremely excited about discovering the places that have been left unseen during the previous times. In that sense living in a big city like Warsaw and playing tourist is tremendously fun, because the list of places to see and get to know is long. Last weekend when we experienced the first awaited warm spring day with summer vibes, I decided to go and check out the Praga region that lies on the "other " side of the town, right bank of the Vistula river. 

Praga used to be an sepratate town until it was unified with Warsaw in the 18th century. It has so far been mostly considered as the habitat of the working class and one of the poorest parts of Warsaw. It is also known as one of the most dangerous areas in the city, mostly during the night ours, but truth to be told, at daytime it was one of the coolest places I have seen in Warsaw. As Praga did not get such major war destructions like the rest of Warsaw did, everything you see on the streets is as real as it gets. For some reasons, districts alike to Praga, that are a bit raddled and getting in the way of time, at some point suddenly come to life. And as the unique and quirky pubs, cafes, galleries and clubs open up, the place becomes the people's new social centerpiece. Somehow I seem to be really into such hipster paradises. But Praga with its post-industrialism, old brick buildings and obvious histroy radiates this different kind of enjoyable energy that just drags you in.  

Tõttöelda võtab igasugune funktsioneeriva rutiini teke uues kohas äraütlemata palju aega. Kõik see, mis kuulus igapäevaellu varem - kellaajad, harjumused, päeva sisustamine erinevate tegevustega-, tuleb võõrasse keskkonda astudes vähemalt viivuks endast maha jätta. Sest nüüd tuleks endale lõpuks tunnistada, et enam pole tegu tõesti mingusuguse puhkusega, kus võib hetkeks kõik muu ära unustada, lasta ajal oma soodu käia ja mõelda, et küll ma siis tagasitulles jälle hakkan asju nii tegema, nagu neid siiani teinud olen. Aeg on asjade teistsugust rada käimisega harjuda ning oma tegemisi targemini planeerima hakata, et aega oleks töötegemise kõrvalt ka iseenda jaoks.

Truth to be told, creating a new and functioning routine is a time-consuming business. All that used to be a part of our lives before - times of day, habits, filling your days with different activities-, has to be left behind for at least a short period of time when entering a new and unkown environment. Because now it is time to admit to myself, that this really is not yet another small vacation, where I can just forget about everything, let the time tick by its own rules and think, that I will continue where you left off once I get back again. It is time to get used to walking on different, off beaten paths and to plan my time wisely, so I wouldn't spend it all on working and could actually have some for myself too.

Olen viimase nädala jooksul üsna kaootiliselt elanud. Varssavi tormiline tempo ei ole mind küll jalust maha niitnud ning mingil moel on see mulle isegi meeltmööda - paneb mind kummalisel kombel elavana tundma-, kuid aeg libiseb sõrmede vahelt niivõrd kiiresti läbi, et ei saa arugi, kui päev on jälle õhtusse veerenud ning aeg on magama heita. Ja kuivõrd läbimõeldult ei ole ma ka planeerinud päeva lõppu pisikest jooksutiiru või mõnda muud toredat kuid aeganõudvat tegevust, on tööpäeva alguses pähe istutatud plaan selle lõpuks vaikselt väsinuna rongis koju loksudes justkui sealt haihtunud. Koju jõudes tekib selline imelik jõuetus, ehk isegi viitsimatus, mille lõksu on nii lihtne langeda ning kust raske välja pääseda. #täiskasvanuelu Naljakas on isegi see, et terve selle pooleteist nädala jooksul ei ole ma kordagi korralikult süüa teinud. Õhtul koju jõudes on taldrikule maandunud eri variandis salatid ning vaevanõudvaimaks elemendiks on olnud kanafilee valmistamine. Kuigi istuva töö ning vaheldusrikka ja toitva lõuna kõrvalt on selline kerge õhtusöök olnud väga sobilik, on see harjumus edasi kandunud ka nädalavahetusse, mil just midagi rohkem erilisemat ja maitsvat vaaritada võiks. Söögitegemine on üks nendest asjadest minu elus, mis on mulle kirjeldamatult oluline ja mis pakub mulle sellist rõõmu, millele suur osa tegevustest ligilähedalegi ei pääse. 

The past week has flown by in a rather chaotic manner. The rapid pace of living in Warsaw has not swept me off my feet, although it can feel a bit overwhelming at times. But in some ways it really appeals to me, as it makes me feel strangely alive. Although compared to my little hometown, time really seems to vanish into thin air in here, so that I don't even realise when yet another day has gone by and it is time to go to sleep again. Even though I have tried to be organised and plan a small round of running or some other fun but time consuming activity into the second part of my day, those plans have somehow disappeared from my mind while heading home and sitting on a train, being all tired and wanting to just lay down and do nothing. Funnily, I haven't cooked a proper and real meal even once for myself yet. Just a simple salad has done the trick after working hours. Whereas that is a good thing regarding the sitting nature of my job, this has also passed on to my weekends. That is bad, especially as I really love cooking. 

Siiani on suurem osa vabast ajast ja võhmast kulunud igasugu esmatarbekaupade jahtimisele, alustades patjadest ja tekkidest kuni söögikraamini välja, mis oodatust rohkem aega on võtnud. Enam ei ole nii, et saab nurgapealsesse poodi pea ainsa kliendina kassas lihtsalt sipsti sisse ja välja astuda. Reaalselt kõik  võtab aega. Kuid vähemalt on nüüdseks ajaarvestuselt parimad poed, mis mingil moel töölt-koju-trajektoorile satuvad, suures jaos avastatud ning tekkinud on mingigi aimdus sellest, kuidas ühistransport siin linnas liigub, võib hakata endale seadma pisikesi eesmärke, mis hea rutiini tekkimisele kaasa peaksid aitama.

Most of my free time and energy so far has gone for finding all kinds of life necessities, starting from pillows and blankets and finishing with shopping for some groceries. All that, just like everything in here, takes of course time, as the luxury of just stepping quickly into some nearby store and being almost the only client is gone. The good thing is that I have discovered the best shops (timewise) nearby for myself and I have also started to form some sort of a knowledge of how the public transport works in this city. So that means I can also slowly start building up a good routine for myself. And to help that get along I have set some nice little goals. 

1. Loe raamatuid. Sellega ei peaks õnneks üleüldse probleeme tekkima, kuna igapäevane teekond tööle ja sealt tagasi võib venida kuni tunni pikkuseks, mis annab piisavalt võimalusi pea raamatusse pista. Praegu loengi Paula Hawkinsi "Tüdruk rongis". Olles ise tüdruk rongis. Hehe...

 1. Read books. That fortunately has started to become a real habit of mine. Riding a train to and back from work for almost up to an hour is the perfect opportunity to dig my nose into a good book. FYI, currently reading The Girl on the Train. While being on the train. Hehe...

2. Blogi tihedamini ning kasuta ära neid ideid, mis siiani blogi jaoks tekkinud on. Kuigi ma pooldan igati sellist spontaanset kirjutamist, mil kõik kuidagi palju ehedam minu jaoks tundub, on lihtne sedasi asja soiku jätta. Seda on minevikus niivõrd palju juhtunud ja nüüd tahaksin asju teistmoodi proovida teha. Nädalas korra sooviksin ikka miskit kirjutada.

2. Blog more often and take advantage of all these ideas I have come up with for the blog. Although I truly am a fan of this more spontaneous kind of writing, as it just feels and comes across much more real, it is easy to somehow come to a donwstill with it, like it has happened so many times in the past. Writing at least once a week sounds like a good plan.

3. Käi kolm korda nädalas jooksmas + 2 korda nädalas võimlemist/jõutrenni. Juba mõnda aega tagasi otsustasin, et sel aastal osalen kohe kindlasti mitmel jooksuüritusel, millest esimene pidi olema maikuus toimuv Tartu Jooksumaraton. Kuna aga asjaolude sunnil selle oma kavast välja pean jätma, tuleb miskit uut ka asemele leida. Õnneks toimub Poolas jooksuvõistlusi igal kuul peaaegu lugematul arvul, tuleb mingi valik ära teha ja sellest lähtudes ka viimaks korralikult treenima hakata. Ja ega enam ei ole ka seda luksust käes, mis oli olemas Otepää küngaste vahel. Ükskõik, kuhu ka ei läinud, ikka oli hea ja mõnus joosta. Täielik paradiis, kus ei hakanud iialgi igav või pähe ei turgatanud mõtted, et ma ikka kohe üldse ei viitsi. Naljakas, kuidas perspektiivid asjade suhtes muutuvad, kui neid enam nii iseenesest mõistetavalt käeulatuses pole. Kuid mis seal ikka, tuleb ära kasutada kõike seda, mis siin mulle on antud. Tuleb vaid üleüldine päevakava koos kojusõiduaegadega niimoodi jonksu seada, et see mulle sobiks ja motivatsiooni ka ikka jaguks.

3. Run three times a week + twice a week some strength exercises. Already a while ago I decided I will participate at least in a couple of running events this year and the first was supoosed to be Tartu Jooksumaraton in May. But as I wont be able to make it to that one this time around, I have to find something to replace it with now. Fortunately even every single village here in Poland seems to hold an event, so I just have to make a choice and start training for it accordingly. The running conditions here are nothing alike to the paradise I had in my hometown, but nevertheless, I need to make the most of what I have got! And it is not that bad. Just got to keep the motivation going!

4. Tee nädalavahetustel midagi head süüa - katseta uusi retsepte, rahvuskööke jne. Naljakas on sellist asja enda jaoks isegi kirja panna, kuid ilmselt ei teki minus muud moodi tahtmist iseenda jaoks korralikult süüa teha. Miskipärast on mul palju rohkem tahtmist seda teha, kui laua äärde võib oodata istuma rohkem inimesi. Kuid ehk võin ma sedasi ka isekeskis head toitu nautima veel õppida.

4. Cook something delicious on the weekends - try out new recipes, cuisines etc. It is funny to even write something like this down to myself, but otherwise I migh not really feel the need to cook. I somehow seem to feel more willing to do it when I can expect more people sitting by the table with me. But maybe this is a way how to learn to enjoy food accompanied only by myself. 

5. Vaata korra nädalas mingit filmi/sarja. Iseenda meelelahutuse jaoks.

Ja ongi vist hetkel kõik. Ma loodan, et pean oma seatud eesmärkidest ja väiksest plaanist ka kinni. Eks aeg anna arutust. On keegi teist ka midagi sarnast proovimas? Mis on need asjad, mida teie oma rutiini lisada sooviksite?

5. Watch a movie or a series once a week. Just for my own entertainment. 

I guess that is it for the time being. I hope I can keep up with my little master plan. Is any of you trying to do something similar like me? What are the things you would like to incorpoate to your daily routines?

Kahjuks hakkab see mul vist traditsiooniks saama, et suudan eelmise kuu lemmikuks kujunenud asjad või sündmused kirja panna alles siis, kui uus kuu kiirel sammul juba keskpaiga suunas jookseb. Kuigi ma pean tunnistama, et mul oli viimane kenasti kalendrisse kirja pandud, eesmärgiga seda ka siis teha. Kuid uute uudiste tuules ununes märkmik sootuks lauanurgale ning ees ootas suuremat sorti sagimine, et kõik kodinad kenasti kokku saaks pakitud, inimesed kallistatud ja ma võimalikult kiiresti ning mugavalt otsapidi ka Poola ikka jõuaks. Kuid nüüd olen ma siin ning kätte sattunud pisut ka aega, et siis märtsikuu lemmikutest natuke jutustada.

Unfortunately it seems that publishing the monthly favourites while the new one is already almost half way done starts to become a small tradition of mine. Although I have to admit that I had it all nicely planned and even written down to my journal, in order to do it at the right time, but oh well...Life happened! In the midst of finding out life changing news my journal was forgotten on the edge of the desk and all my focus went on making sure everything gets packed, people get hugged and I would make my way to Poland as fast as possible. But I have made my way down here and have a bit more time to chat a bit of my March favourites. 

MUUSIKA/MUSIC

Kui päris aus olla, siis olen seda kategooriat ilmselt kõige enam oodanud, kuna olen enda jaoks avastanud päris mitu head artisti, keda märtsikuul äraütlemata palju ka kuulasin. Norra päritolu kaunis Aurora on ühtaegu nii õrn kui jõuline, meenutades stiililt õige pisut Florence + The Machine'i, kuid jäädes kõige selle juures siiski täiesti unikaalseks. Whilk and Misky on ilmselt üks nendest, kes peagi, kui mitte juba, inimeste lemmikute hulka kuuluma hakkab. Lugu "Clap Your Hands" on lihtsalt ideaalne suvelaul, mille saatel nii tööle sõita, aias grillida, rannas mõnuleda kui ka sporti teha.

To be honest, then I have been the most excited about writing this category, as I have discovered quite many lovely artists that have made it to my March playlist way much more than once. The Norwegian and beautiful Aurora is both fragile and powerful at the same time, reminding me a bit of Florence + The Machine. Though she still manages to keep her own unique signature in her songs. And the second artist, Whilk and Misky are probably one of those groups who will grow onto people fast and will become, if not already, a massive crowd pleaser. The song Clap Your Hands is just the perfect summer song to listen to while driving to work, grilling in the garden, relaxing on the beach or even doing some sports. 

FILM/MOVIE

Olen juba maininud, et ei ole kõige suurem filmivaataja, kuid mõne telekavälise filmi kuu jooksul vast ikka ära näeb. Juhtusin ühel õhtul "Praktikanti" vaatama, kus Robert DeNiro siis pensioniealise praktikandi ning Anne Hathaway tema ülemuse peaosa mängib. Ausaltöeldes pole ma päris pikka aega nõnda lihtsat, siirast ja mõnusat filmi vaadanud. Vahepeal ei olegi vaja midagi äraütlemata keerulist või sügavamõttelist, et see mingil tasandil liigutaks. Kui kunagi ka telekasse jõuab, vaatan ma seda ilmselt rõõmuga jälle uuesti!

I have already mentioned more than once that I am not a huge movie watcher, but I think I can manage to warch a movie or two which do not actually run on the TV. I happened to see The Intern with Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway as the main actors. Truth to be told it was one of the most simple, sincere and lovely movies I have seen in a while. It reminded that sometimes you don't need something entirely complicated or deep to be touched in some inner levels. And if it will eventually get shown on TV, I will be more than glad to see it again. 

RAAMAT/BOOK

Pean õige pisut pea häbist norgu laskma ja ütlema, et ei ole märtsis suurem asi lugeja olnud ning siinkohal võin taas vaid ühe nime letti laduda. Jätkan veel Haruki Murakami radadel ning seekord on nimekirjas "Kafka on the shore". Esialgu tundus see pärast "Norwegian wood'i" lugemist minu maitsele natuke liiga palju sürrealistlike elemente sisaldavat, kuid loo edenedes ja sündmuste hargnemisel ei hakanud need enam niiväga silma. Naljakal kombel tekkis lugedes üle pika aja tunne, kus ei olnud vaja enam niiväga mõelda sellele, et mis võiks järgmisena juhtuda, kuid sai keskenduda lihtsalt lugemisele endale. 

Kuid nüüd lähevad lood lugemise koha pealt ilmselt palju helgemaks, kuna igahommikune ja -õhtune teekond töölt koju on piisavalt pikk, et ninapidi mõnda raamatusse sukelduda.

I think I need to hang my head out of shame again and say that March has been a lousy month when it comes to reading. I can only put down one name but then again it is a good one. Quality over quantity, right? I am still walking on the Haruki Murakami paths and the book chosen was Kafka on the Shore. After having read  Norwegian Wood previously Kafka on the Shore felt a tiny bit too fictional for my taste but as the story unfolded I somehow got used to the surrealistic elements and after a while it didn't really catch my attention anymore. Funnily, while reading, I did not get this feeling of thinking about what is going to happen next, but I was just able to focuse on reading itself. 

But from now on the reading part should definitely improve, as my way to and from work gives me a perfect chance to dive into a book at least for a moment or two.  

Elu tõesti käib kummalisi radu pidi. Ühel päeval tundsin end oma asjadega igati rappa jooksnuna ning teisel lahendas üks pisike e-mail sootuks kõik just nagu iseenesest ära. Aeg, mida viimasel poolel aastal nõnda palju kätte oli jäetud, sai ühtäkki otsa ning algas võidujooks selle nimel, et kõik oluline nähtud ja tehtud saaks, enne veel kui kodumaa tolm teadmata ajaks jalge alt pühin. 

Nõnda istungi siin Riia lennujaamas ning ootan kannatamatult pea ees tundmatusse vette hüppamist. Ja kui eile, mil pooleldi pakkimispaanikast halvatuna veel mõtlesin, et mida kuradit ma küll teen, siis täna on lood juba sootuks teised ja südamesse on end istutanud kerge ärevusenoot. Muidugi on hinges hirm ning suur teadmatus kõige selle osas, mis Eestis nii tuttav ja kodune on, kuid ehk nii ongi hea. Saab viimaks jälle sellest neetud mugavustsoonist välja ja midagi sellist kogeda, mis igatepidi kasvatab ja elavana tundma paneb. Midagi, millele mingil hetkel elule tagasi vaadates uhke tunne rinnas suureks paisub ning pähe tuleb mõte, et mina tegin seda kõike. Ees ootab uus omamoodi seiklus, mille kulgu ei suuda mitte kuidagi ette ennustada. Ehk on see minu kord "särada".

Life really has its bizarre ways. One day I felt completely stuck with my things and on the other a small e-mail changed and solved everything. Just like that. The time, which I thought to have so much of in my hands, suddenly ran out. It actually felt like a small race in order to see everyone dear to me for the last time and get all important things checked off my to-do list before leaving. 

So I sit here in Riga airport and wait impatiently the moment I take a leap of fait and dive into the unkown. Although yesterday, when being in the middle of a minor packing panic attack, I thought that what the hell am I doing, then today has been already a lot different. Even though I feel still anxious and nervous, but then again a lot more excited too. Of course I have this tremendous fear and feeling of not knowing enough about it all in me, but maybe that is a good thing after all. It gives me a chance to jump out of this damned comfort zone and actually do something with my life that will leave a mark behind. Something that I can look back on in the future and say: I did this. It will be a new and one of a kind adventure awaiting me. May it be my time to "shine".
